About Us

Books background

Wilkes County Friends of the Library (WCFOL) is a non-profit 501c-3 volunteer-led organization created for the purpose of supporting the Wilkes County Public Library and its programs, enabling it to remain current, accessible, and appealing.

With your help, WCFOL raises money for upgrades to book collections, equipment, and facilities, and we sponsor educational and cultural programs to engage library patrons of all ages.

Our members are passionate about promoting literacy and education in our community. We organize events and fundraisers to support the library and encourage reading. WCFOL’s vision and dedication enable our libraries to thrive and remain a vibrant asset to our community.

Our Mission & Vision

Education is a fundamental right of every individual, and we are committed to ensuring that the Wilkes County Public Library has the necessary resources to provide access to information and knowledge to everyone in our community. The Friends’ financial help makes possible ongoing projects like upgrading the library's technology, renovating spaces in need of refurbishment, and organizing events to promote reading and literacy. Your support can make a difference.

The Wilkes County Friends of the Library is committed to promoting literacy and education in our community. Join us in our mission to support the Wilkes County Public Library and its programs for generations to come.

Our Book Store

Beginning on the second Thursday of each month, the Friends hosts a book sale at our book store. We have thousands of used books in many genres and have new books to offer each month because of generous donations of new and gently used books from the community and the library.

We average $1,500 in sales at each monthly sale, and these proceeds, our most significant fundraising source, go directly to funding library programs, events, and other needs.
